Introduction

From time to time, the Vuzix team will issue updates for your m100 smart glasses. This is similar to updates provided for other smart devices like smart phones and tablets. It is important to install these updates to receive the best performance and experience on your device.

Getting Notified

The Cyber Timez team will always send you notifications when an update is available. Please make sure your current email address is on file with us so you receive these and other important updates from us.

Make Sure Your Smart Glasses Are Ready

Check Your Battery Charge

First and foremost, we need to make sure you have at least 80% battery charge available, although 100% is always better.

White Light Method

The first and easiest method to determine your battery charge is to plug in your m100 smart glasses and look for the white light on the outside of the unit. If this light is blinking the unit is charging, if it is solid white then the unit is fully charged.

Battery Settings

The second method can be used if the light doesn’t stop blinking or if you are unsure what the level is currently. This is also useful in daily operations.

1.  With the device powered on, navigate to Vuzix Home → Settings with short presses of the Forward Button.

2.  Short press the Select Button to open Settings.
3.  Short press the Forward button several times to highlight Battery

4.  Short press the Select button to open the Battery settings


Ensure Your Are On WiFi

The system update will be downloaded via your WiFi connection. If you are not on WiFi, please follow the instructions in your Vuzix M100 Product Guide on page 27.

Apply an Update

1.  With the device powered on, navigate to Vuzix Home → Settings with short presses of the Forward Button.

2.  Short press the Select Button to open Settings.
3.  Short press the Forward button several times until About Smart Glasses is highlighted (it is the last item in the list)

4.  Short press the Select button to open the About Smart Glasses options

5.  Short press the Select button to open the M100 System Updater

6.  Your device should have the Check Now button highlighted by default, if it does not, short press the Forward or Center buttons until it is.
7.  Short press the Select button when the Check Now button is highlighted to begin the update process
8.  If an update is available, the system will automatically begin downloading the package. Please be careful not to press any buttons on this screen until the download is finished as this will cancel the update process. Updates can be rather large and download times will depend on your internet connection speeds. You will not hear any updates from Google Talk Back while the download is taking place. Please be patient.

9.  Once the download is complete, it must be plugged into a valid power source to continue. If you receive the following message and only the Later button is available, please plug the device into another power source.

10.  Once the Install button is available, press the Select button to begin the Installation. The system will verify the the installation package and automatically reboot. DO NOT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS DURING THIS PROCESS AS IT COULD PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE.
11.  Wait several minutes (as long as 10 minutes) for the device to reboot fully.
12.  Verify that your system updated to the latest version (2.7.2 as of this writing)
13.  Navigate to Vuzix Home → Settings with short presses of the Forward Button.
14.  Short press the Select Button to open Settings.

15.  Short press the Forward button several times until About Smart Glasses is highlighted (it is the last item in the list)

16.  Short press the Select button to open the About Smart Glasses options

17.  Short press the Forward button several times until Build number is highlighted
